Movies are filled with awesome cars, which are made even more awesome simply by being in those movies in the first place. It’s no secret that cinema glamourizes and embellishes automobiles, making them seem larger than life – as objects of desire that everyone craves. Conversely, when we watch a movie that showcases a cool car, we automatically start wanting it, whether we need it or not.

So, with that in mind, we present to you our top picks for ten movie cars that we all wish we owned.

10. Ecto-1

Movie: Ghostbusters

ecto-1

The Cadillac Miller-Meteor was outdated even back in the 1980s – when the Ghostbusters first took it out on one of their ghost-busting missions. Luckily, after a few repairs and additions, it became one of the coolest cars around the block.

9. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Movie: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang may not be the prettiest thing around, but its special abilities are enough to warrant it a spot on this list. It floats, flies and even inspires musical numbers. There’s nothing it can’t do. Enough said.

8. Greased Lightning

Movie: Grease

Danny and Sandy drove this baby off into the sunset, making us feel all romantic and mushy inside. Can we really ask for more? Just imagine showing up next to your girlfriend’s apartment in this adorable car. She’d love it.

7. The Shaguar

Movie: Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me

The Shaguar is basically the Jaguar E-Type with a union jack paint job. Enzo Ferrari has called it “the most beautiful car ever made,” and we’re inclined to agree. It’s cousin, F-Type, is just as pretty, if you’re interested in a modern alternative.

6. 1970 Chevy Nova

Movie: Death Proof

deathproof

Quentin Tarantino’s underappreciated Death Proof has turned the Chevy Nova into a truly terrifying monster. It may not be the “cutest” car on this list, but if you want to scare a few people, this Nova would be perfect.

5. 1973 XB GT Ford Falcon

Movie: Mad Max

Mad Max sure knew how to make himself look badass. Ford Falcon combined with some heavy artillery is definitely a wining combo in our books!

4. 1970 Dodge Charger

Movie: The Fast and the Furious

Vin Diesel’s character Dominic has made the Dodge Charger perform numerous tricks in The Fast and the Furious – particularly in the climactic sequence where it performs a wheelstand and a burnout at the same time! This car is the definition of “awesome.”

3. Ferrari 250 GT Spyder

Movie: Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

This is what Ferris had to say about this fine automobile: “It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.” We really have nothing else to add here.

2. 1981 DeLorean DMC-12

Movie: Back to the Future

With those slick gull-wing doors and an ability to time travel, the DeLorean is one of the most capable movie cars around. Doc Brown has indeed crafted something special here.

1. Batmobile/Tumbler

Movie: Batman Begins

Bruce Wayne was able to do just about anything in this thing: escape from cops, gun down barricades and more. It’s the coolest car you can put into your garage – if it can fit, that is.
