11 New Cars That Can Beat Police in a High-Speed Chase - Unhaggle

We’re not endorsing the idea in real life, but if you’ve ever wondered what sort of ride you’d need to outrun the cops in a high-speed chase, wonder no more! Police cruisers definitely offer significant power (most squads drive Dodge Chargers and Ford Crown Victoria Inspectors), but these 11 new cars beat them every time.

1. Ford Mustang GT

Ford Mustang GT

4.7 seconds is all it takes for the Ford Mustang GT to reach 60mph, and when you pair that with its 5.0-litre V8 engine that sends 400 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels, it’s pretty much guaranteed that you’ll own any high-speed chase you happen to find yourself in. With the police or otherwise!

2. Lotus Evora 400

Lotus Evora 400

Lotus calls it “the fastest Lotus road car of the New Millennium.” That might be one hell of an endorsement, but the Evora 400 seems deserving of the title given its top speed of 186mph and ability to reach 60mph in 4.1 seconds. If you’re a rich criminal you can pick up this Lotus for around $100,000.

3. Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution

Need a car that can hold the family, but also beat the police in a chase? Then the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is the ride for you! The Evolution sedan reaches 60mph in 4.9 seconds and offers a four-cylinder turbo engine capable of 291 horsepower.

4. BMW M235i

BMW M235i

Not only can the M235i hit 60 in 4.4 seconds, but it’s also the 2015 IIHS Top Safety Pick. Because it’s good to know that you’re protected while maneuvering roads at a high speed.

5. Dodge Challenger w/Scat Pack Shaker

There’s no messing around with Dodge’s latest offering, the Challenger. This beauty sprints from 0-60 in 4.5 seconds flat, packs 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque from a 6.4-litre V8. Best part? It’s less than $50,000CAD!

6. Nissan 370Z

Nissan 370Z

We couldn’t make a list of the fastest new cars and not include the 370Z! If you’re looking to outrun the law then Nissan’s model could be just the ticket. It’s got a six-speed manual transmission that can automatically match revs while downshifting AND a 3.7-litre V6 engine offering 332 horsepower.

7. Audi R8

Audi R8

With a lightweight, yet strong body plus a 430 hp 4.2-liter FSI® V8 engine, it’s clear that the Audi R8 is a star. We’re not saying to go looking for a high-speed chase, but if you ever find yourself in one investing in an R8 wouldn’t be a bad thing.

8. Ford Focus ST

Ford Focus ST

The Focus ST boasts a 2.0-litre EcoBoost engine that hits a maximum 252 horsepower and runs from 0-60 in 6.6 seconds. Good things come in small packages indeed!

9. Chevy Camaro SS

Chevy Camaro SS

When it comes to new cars that can hold their own in a high-speed chase look no further than the Chevy Camaro SS. The SS has a 6.2-litre V8 engine that provides 426 horses and 420 pound-feet of torque, plus it hits 60mph in 5.5 seconds.

10. Ferrari F12berlinetta

Ferrari F12berlinetta

This little baby has the fastest acceleration of any Ferrari road warrior, according to the company, and with a top speed of over 211mph, we’re inclined to believe them! Reaching 125mph in less than 10 seconds (8.5 to be exact) you can count on the F12berlinetta to make a car chase with a police cruiser look like a total joke.

11. Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4

Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4

Ah yes, the pièce de résistance of this fast car list! It’s safe to say that any Lambo model would help push you ahead in a high-speed chase, but the Huracán LP 610-4 would absolutely kill it. Touted as the car “from the future” by Automobili Lamborghini, this fine specimen of a vehicle offers up a 3.2 second 0-62mph time and a top speed that eclipses 202mph. So, if you’ve got $300,000 lying around, run to that dealership now.
