Car giants Fiat and Chrysler announced on April 19 that they are planning to build three new Jeep models in China to target that specific market. The manufacturers stated that they will join forces with China’s Guangzhou Automobile Group Co. Ltd. for this venture, expecting to start the production in the latter half of 2015.
CEO of Chrysler and Fiat, Sergio Marchionne, has called this the next level of “expansion of a global scale of the Jeep brand.” He added that the legal merger to create Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is expected to conclude by the end of 2014.
