Honda will show off its new Civic Type-R hot hatch at the Paris Motor Show this week – and possibly reveal more details about the car.
The hot hatch is actually quite trendy car at the moment, and there is no shortage of options to fit the style, speed and practicality preferences of the car buyer. The Honda Civic Type-R will compete with popular models such as the Volkswagen Golf GTI and Ford Focus ST.
In order to grab the attention of the public, Honda has had to take some pretty daring steps with the Civic R-Type. The first step was to put the “Type-R” badging on the new Civic. Next, the automaker has promised that this will be the most extreme vehicle to ever carry the badging. This statement says a lot, considering that for the past 20 years, the Type-R models have included everything from the NSX Supercar to the current Civic.
The exact details of the new Type-R, such as the official 0-60 mph times, are being kept hush-hush until the official unveiling on October 2nd. Until then, what we do know that the Type-R will be packing a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that will generate more than 278 horsepower. Stylistic updates include flared rear-wheel arches and a raised rear spoiler.
One of the biggest challenges when it comes to developing a hot hatch is that it has to be practical enough for comfortable cruising and solid enough when taking a corner at high speeds.
Other vehicles set to debut at the Paris Motor Show include FIAT 500X, MINI Cooper 5-Door and many more. So, stay tuned for further details!
