The 2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe is an overt demonstration of the brand’s return to form, so to speak. It’s fast, sexy and competitive – it’s everything you need in a luxury vehicle.
The Cadillac ATS has made a name for itself as the entry-level sedan in Cadillac’s luxury lineup. For 2015, the ATS elevates its offerings by removing two doors and adding the all-new Cadillac ATS Coupe. This Coupe continues to enforce Cadillac’s commitment to re-establishing itself as a top contender on the luxury market by competing with top rivals.
The coupe is the perfect addition to the ATS lineup mainly because it offers buyers an entry-level alternative for those who aren’t impressed by the style, or lack thereof, of the sedan – with some compromise, of course. The ATS Coupe is another opportunity for Cadillac to become, well, the Cadillac of cars again.
It’s a Competitive World Out There
The 2015 ATS Coupe has been introduced in an effort to take back the luxury market that Cadillac has somewhat lost over the last decade. Part of achieving this goal is to continue to redefine the lineup by introducing new vehicles and putting new spins on existing ones. Examples of this are clear with the new ATS Coupe and much-anticipated CT6 that will hit dealership floors in late 2015.
The Cadillac ATS Coupe has thrown itself into a tough segment with plenty of excellent compact sport-luxury coupes that we love and respect. It’s up against Audi A5 and S5, BMW 4-Series, Mercedes C-Class, Lexus IS and Infiniti Q50. However, this factor has not stopped the ATS Coupe from hitting the ground running. We’re happy to say that the segment finally gets some domestic representation and a good one at that.
Elegance and Style Prevail
As with many of the more recent Cadillac additions, the 2015 ATS Coupe has been praised for its edgy and unique styling. The new method follows Cadillac’s dynamic design evolution known as Art and Science that has defined many of its newer models. The angular forms and defined edges are a bit more toned down on this most recent outing, giving the ATS Coupe a softer and more elegant character than some of its siblings, like the CTS.
So Much Power
The ATS Coupe doesn’t just offer a unique design, but enough power to take on, if not outperform, the competition. The ATS Coupe has two available engines: a 2.0-litre four-cylinder that produces 272 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque and a 3.0-litre V6 that puts out 321 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque. Obviously the latter is the more appealing proposition, but even the base engine is a competitive piece of equipment.
Verdict
The blend of design and power on this car is outstanding, but they do come with a compromise. The interior space of the ATS Coupe is limited due to its shape, offering seven cubic feet less than the sedan version. This, however, is the case with many compact coupes on the market. What the ATS Coupe doesn’t have that many rivals do is a history and proven track record. This coupe is essentially the new kid on the block, but Cadillac has ensured to equip it with all the tools necessary to be a shining star.
