The holidays are over and all we are left with is an awful hangover. The good news is that plenty of manufacturers are offering discounts on their vehicles, which means that you can cure your post-holiday depression by securing a decently-priced new car.
Why are automakers so willing to throw out good deals at this time of year? The answer is simple – because sales are slow during winter. When temperatures drop to -20°C or below, people are less willing to venture out of their warm home, particularly during January, arguably the coldest month of the year.
January is also problematic because it comes right after the holiday season – when most people are too broke to buy anything, having spent most of their hard-earned cash in December. You all know who you are…
However, if you’re in the market for a new car right now – and you have the money to afford one – this month may be the best time to make the investment. The incentives are solid, and dealers are far more likely to negotiate with you if you want to lower that price even more. According to our recent article, bad weather is one of the best times to negotiate a good deal, so take advantage of the situation!
And just to paint the picture clearer – the discount on the new Mazda5 is currently over $3,000, while incentives for brands like Hyundai, Lexus and Toyota are higher than $1,000.
So, do yourself a favour and buy a new car before these deals expire on February 2. Check out some of the highlights below or access our free dealer cost report for more options:
