Volvo has recently unveiled its compact inflatable rear-facing child safety seat that according to the manufacturer can easily fit into a weekend travel bag once deflated. If you are a parent, then this must sound like a dream come true – a child seat that shrinks!
The invention weighs eleven pounds, which is about half the weight of a standard child seat. It takes around 40 seconds to inflate or deflate the seat thanks to a silent air pump attached to it. The seat even has Bluetooth connectivity, which allows it to have a range of possible features as well as to inflate or deflate remotely.
Volvo is yet to reveal whether this device has been tested in any way or if there are any plans to certify it through various required agencies, but at least it’s on its way here, so rejoice!
