Ferrari has made its big reveal at the Paris Motor Show in the form of a limited edition 458 – the 458 Speciale A. The ‘A’ stands for Aperta, which means “open” in Italian, to signify the open-top experience that Ferrari is ready to deliver to its drivers.
The drop-top model, which would typically be known as a spider, is a twist on what Ferrari says is the most successful V8 sport Ferrari ever. The Italian automaker hopes to add to this popularity with this limited edition.
The exterior design is a hybrid between the classic Ferrari spider and the 458’s race-car body. The front and rear ends have been redesigned and the hood features two ports to vent hot air from the radiator. Ferrari designers say that the front end is reminiscent of the renowned Ferraris from the past, such as the 350 GTO and F40. The retractable hard top can be folded down in just 14 seconds.
The cabin also gets some cool features, such as carbon fibre and suede-like materials that cover most surfaces. The overall interior is intelligently designed to save the most space through storage compartments and the ergonomic seats are covered with an aerated 3-D material to improve air circulation.
The 458 Speciale A gets a V8 engine that can generate 605 horsepower and go from 0-60 mph in just three seconds. This is the most powerful naturally-aspirated engine that Ferrari has ever made and is matched with the most aerodynamic convertible to date – a beautiful combination.
There will only be 499 units of this limited model made and each will cost around $329,000.
The Paris Motor Show has also hosted a reveal of the upcoming Land Rover Discovery Sport. Stay tuned for more updates on the Paris Motor Show!
