Kia’s new commercial for the 2015 Soul EV brings back the brand’s trademark hamsters, but this time, they are joined by sexed-up lady-hamsters as they dance to Maroon 5’s new single “Animals.” The video ad also features high-tech lasers, holograms and, most notably, electricity.
The all-new 2015 Kia Soul EV is an all-electric vehicle that is the first of its kind for Hyundai-Kia. Not only will the compact car be a lot more environmentally friendly, but it will feature a sleeker exterior too. It will come equipped with an all-electric powertrain, which will rely on a 27-kilowatt lithium ion battery to generate 109 horsepower and 210 pound-feet of torque. The car’s battery will recharge in less than five hours thanks to a 240-volt outlet, with a full charge that would be able to last for up to 150 kilometres.
The Soul EV also gets some unique design elements, including a dual-colour scheme, fresh grille design, 16-inch wheels and LED lighting.
The vehicle is a demonstration of the Hyundai-Kia commitment to its environmentally-friendly segment, with Hyundai focusing on fuel-cell cars and Kia focusing on electric ones.
The electric vehicle segment is continuing to grow as more and more automakers are making their first steps into this market. The Soul EV’s rivals include the Nissan Leaf, Ford Focus Electric and FIAT 500e amongst others.
This ad should spark new interest in the refreshed Soul that is expected to hit Canadian markets this fall.
