Bugatti is launching an exclusive clothing line dubbed the Legends Capsule Collection, which will feature outfits inspired by Legends Edition Veyrons.
Luxury car buyers are traditionally upscale people with specific tastes and tons of disposable income. These are the same sort of people who are attracted to high-end fashion and exclusive retail experiences.
For that reason, the latest trend of luxury automotive makers is breaking into the retail market and putting their name on non-automotive luxury products.
Bugatti’s line of men and women’s clothing, made exclusively for the owners of the six limited edition Bugatti Veyrons, includes jackets, t-shirts, belts, driving gloves and clutch purses. All of the items are crafted from the same buffalo, deer, calf and cordovan hides as those featured in the cars’ interiors, involving the same production techniques.
The Bugatti collection is meant to represent the brand’s DNA, incorporating breath-taking performance, art, design and sophistication. While this specific collection will first be available only to the 18 Bugatti Legends owners and their partners, this launch will serve as a foundation for the company’s hopes of creating a full clothing range.
Last year, Bugatti launched an exclusive apparel and accessories collection at the Milan Fashion Week, which consisted of two lines – “Ettore Bugatti” with an “EB” monogram and “Extreme Performance” with the Bugatti logo. It included blue crocodile skin handbags to be sold in the 35 exclusive boutiques the company is still working on opening around the world.
Other luxury automakers, such as Bentley, Porsche and Lexus, have also made attempts at entering the high-end fashion world over the past few years. For instance, Lexus has launched a shopping space known as Intersect by Lexus to target younger people and projecting a more contemporary image.
While the success of those lines is still questionable, Bugatti definitely has the potential to pull off its lofty goals. For more information on other auto-fashion collaborations, check out this slideshow on MSN Autos.
