Elon musk, the CEO of Tesla motor company is an insane billionaire with something to prove. He is the perfect candidate for a real live superhero and he probably has a secret volcano lair already. Want an idea of who this guy is? Check out his crazy yet plausible hyper loop idea, that will take you from Los Angeles to San Francisco in 35 minutes. On the saner side of things lies Tesla, the first electric car maker of any substance. Not only are they changing the game of the automotive industry, they are slowly changing the world.

Forget your Range Anxiety, that’s only for gas powered cars

Your first concern will be the same as everyone else’s. Range anxiety… Well Tesla is snuffing that out like a boot on a cigarette with multiple new innovations. Forget supercharger stations that take 20 minutes to fully charge your battery. That’s not good enough for a man like Elon Musk. What you can expect are stations to swap your battery with a fully charged one, in half the time it takes to fill up your ancient and out of style gas powered machine.

Tesla Model S

2014-tesla-model-s_100436548_mThis car is as futuristic as it comes. While you struggle with your unresponsive bulky touch screen adaptation in whatever car you may own. Tesla has directly hired from Apple, and developed what can only be described as an iPad to control virtually everything in your car.

When you first enter a Tesla Model S, you realize how spacious it is, almost like your sitting in the cab of a pickup truck. This is because there are no bulky drive lines or transmissions that need to run down the center of the car to connect the rear to the front. Due to this, it also has a very low centre of gravity, which maximizes its already impressive performance.

One essential difference is when your stomp on the pedal with your conventional gasoline engine, it takes time for pressure and hydraulics to pass from the combusting piston chambers to the wheels. With electric cars you have maximum torque the very second your foot pushes the accelerator. That’s right this isn’t your 10 horsepower G-wiz that can get out drag raced by a casual jog in the park. With 416hp of tire shredding power, this is your electric powered BMW M5. And that is as high as praises come.

Other electronic cars in the market

Nissan_LeafWith the Tesla Model S coming in at a painful $90,000, you may want to take the more popular route. The Nissan Leaf comes in just a touch over $30k and being the best-selling electric vehicle, you can be sure they got something right.

In some provinces like Ontario and Quebec you get a government incentive, putting it directly on par with its gas powered rivals. Its performance is that of a Prius and driving it feels like sitting in a bucket of warm wallpaper paste. But this is an electric car, which is pretty damn cool in its own right. There are several others such as the Mitsubishi i-miEV and Ford Focus Electric that are worth a peak as well.

To infinity and beyond!

Electric cars are now adapting to our current demand for transportation, and with absolutely zero emissions we can’t forget johnny polar bear. He will thank us after watching his friend float away on a small piece of ice due to melting ice caps. You will also thank the new found technology when you are saving hundreds on your gas bill. All in all its time for people to start embracing the future, and consider an electric vehicle when buying new.
